How to choose lingerie for a future mother?

The problem of choosing and buying underwear becomes relevant at 8-9 weeks of pregnancy, when the breast has already begun to noticeably increase in size, and its sensitivity has significantly increased. In this case, experts recommend giving up your favorite push-ups and underwired bras in favor of comfortable and anatomically correct underwear.

Bras

This is the most important and most difficult point on the list , since the most stringent requirements are imposed on it:

  • A bra for pregnant should be made of high quality “breathable” fabrics that do not cause excessive perspiration and are pleasant to the body. Usually, these are fabrics based on cotton and linen, or microfiber – a modern synthetic fabric, the properties of which is not inferior to cotton (besides, it has better wear resistance).
  • The shape of the bra cups should be in the shape of an isosceles triangle. This is due to the fact that such a bra is best suited for a rounded shape , moreover, it provides some space for increasing its volume.
  • A very important requirement is that the bra should be as closed as possible and completely hide the breasts. Thus, a stable temperature of the mammary glands is maintained, which favorably affects the formation of colostrum.

Panties and Bandages

The selection of panties for pregnant depends on the shape and size of the abdomen, as well as on the personal preferences of the expectant mother. Someone will choose simple “shorts” with a low waist under the belly, someone will find comfortable designs with a high belt, partially or completely hiding the tummy.

When choosing panties, you need to pay attention to two main criteria:

  • They should be deeply seated so as not cause discomfort and pressure on the groin seams.
  • Good elasticity of the material is also very important – during the swelling of the upper part of the legs, there should be no strong pressure on the vessels.

A prenatal bandage can greatly facilitate carrying a baby. This type of underwear is prescribed to almost all expectant mothers from about 24 weeks.

The bandage solves several problems at once:

  • Supports the growing uterus by properly distributing its weight;
  • Relieves some of load from the spine;
  • Helps prevent stretch marks;

And most importantly, any maternity underwear should fit well in order to be truly comfortable and free in it.
